Curriculum

The curriculum is a wide one, drawing on and reaching beyond the National Curriculum. Although great importance is placed on consolidating skills in the core areas of English, Modern Languages, Mathematics and Science, we believe that children should pursue excellence in all their activities - academic, creative and sporting - on the principle that whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. By the time they take their senior school entrance examinations - whether Common Entrance or Scholarship - pupils are thoroughly prepared in all the main academic subjects, as well as Information Technology, Design Technology and Latin, if a chosen option. The aim is not to shoe-horn a child into a given senior school but to equip him or her with the skills and knowledge essential for future studies and public examinations.

Specialist Teaching

Specialist teaching starts even in the Pre-Preparatory department for French, Music, Gymnastics, Dancing and Swimming. From 8 years of age the children are taught all subjects by specialist staff. This is seen as a particular strength of the school, and one that ensures a high standard of tuition in all areas of the Curriculum.

The subjects we teach include:

Music
Information Communication Technology
